10 Things I Remembered This Week

1) Snow days aren't as much fun as they used to be.

2) Having many options is good. But the weighing them part is very tiring, and doesn't build muscles.

3) Fighting about the same things over and over and over again should be added to the dictionary definition of hell... or at the very least, purgatory.

4) People who claim that snow storms disprove that there is such a thing as global warming should write on their hands "I am stupid" four or five times to make sure they don't forget.

5) Finding yourself lost in a book and being unable to put it down is downright blissful.

6) Cynicism is a black hole from which nothing escapes.

7) Making your kids laugh until their sides hurt is easier than one would think.

8) Trust isn't regained through words. Trust is regained only by acts.

9) It is easy to take things like heat for granted, until they aren't there anymore.

10) Snow days aren't as much fun as they used to be.

  1. I still haven't warmed up from shoveling early this morning.

  2. I could write a novel about #8. #9 just about killed me....22 hours without power over the weekend. (shivver) And #3....amen.

Whiskey, my friend, you need whiskey.

  3. @kiki... all i could think of when I wrote it was the Disney movie "The Black Hole" which I watched repeatedly as a child. I can still hear the music.

@Happy... I have no place to put my shovelings.

@Chantel... you SHOULD write a novel. We didn't lose power up our way, thankfully. But my furnace died anyway. Whiskey is a known preventative of number three.

  6. @Pina... I just read an article out the Washington Post scolding the liberals for being condescending. I tried to read it with an open mind... but the author failed to point out that when the people you are arguing with have the thought processes of a second grader it is REALLY hard not to be a little condescending.

VANCOUVER BABY... Can't wait for Team USA to KICK some CANADIAN ass (in my dreams). Do you have snow there? I can mail you some.

  10. i had no power (and therefore no heat, no running water, no phone, no internet and no fun!!!) for four days. and they didn't plow our road for three of those four days... so i had to walk out to get picked up by friends.

F was stuck at work from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon when they finally cleared the roads enough for us to go get him.

snow days can still be fun though, if you have the necessary equipment to deal with them. shovels don't quite make the list of necessary equipment though, as far as i'm concerned.

  11. I used to live in a town called Fort Nelson, British Columbia. It's the very last northern town on the Alaska Highway in British Columbia before you go into the Territories.

I lived there for 17 years.

I've had enough snow days for at least 10 people.

  12. Oh book bliss! It's my primary addiction. I need a little throughout the day just to get me through. I keep a book with me at all times because it's amazing how many 10 minute blocks of downtime occur. So I read here and there, and too much over here, and a little too much there. But I'm always just searching for that next big high. The book you can't put down.
